Your Unchanging Value

In a world full of insecurities, it is challenging to look past doubts and truly believe who God says who we are. Our daily lives are consumed with social media platforms that cause us to constantly compare ourselves with others, which often leads to self-doubt in our own abilities.

The reality is -

no matter what social media or anyone else says about you, God's Word reassures us that we are valuable. God loves us regardless if we are rich or poor. The things of this life are only temporary and don't degrade our value in the sight of the Lord. God says you are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). He says you are a bearer of His image (see Genesis 1:27). Nowhere in Scripture does God say that you are worthless. Instead, we were created with meaning and purpose by a loving Creator.

Sadly, sin has corrupted humanity.  He despises our sin, but he loved us enough to make a way for us to know him, by sacrificing his only Son. Romans 8:1 tells us "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." His grace sets us free from our shame and ultimately transforms us, as we walk after the Spirit. His love is greater than our imperfections. He loves us despite our weaknesses. Corrie Ten Boom once said, “No pit is so deep that His love is not deeper still; with Jesus even in our darkest moments, the best remains, and the very best is yet to be." Ten Boom faced darkness that left emotional scars. Yet, she was still able to feel the overwhelming power of God's love.

In the book of Ephesians, there is a list of who God says you are. Paul shares several truths with us in Ephesians 1 to remind us who we are in Christ.

1. I am blessed

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places," Ephesians 1:3 (ESV)

2. I am loved

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4

3. I am chosen

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4

4. I am holy

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4

5. I am adopted

" Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will." Ephesians 1:5

6. I am redeemed

" In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace." Ephesians 1:7

7. I am forgiven

"the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace" Ephesians 1:7 (ESV)

8. I am called

"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints." Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)

These verses are simply just scratching the surface of how God feels towards you.

His love is unconditional towards us, and your value is unchanging, because of his unconditional love.

Romans 8:38-39 tells us -

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Despite what others may say and think, or even how you view yourself, rest in the assurance that God's opinion is the highest authority. God's love is endless towards you, and your value is unchanging, because of his unconditional love.

You are blessed, chosen, loved, holy, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, and called according to God's Word.

Your value is unchanging in God's eyes.
