The Stewardship of Time

 The Stewardship of Time ⏱️

As the seasons are changing, it’s easy to become distracted by the hustle of life. From fall outings to shopping events to church activities, it can seem impossible to “get it all done.” Often times, our schedules fill up so quickly and leave us wondering how to accomplish our goals. As I was pondering this, I was reminded that while the busyness is fun and exciting, at the same time it can be extremely exhausting.

Social media has influenced our minds to feel that we need Starbucks weekly, an entire new fall wardrobe, and should be posting the cutest fall family photos - just like everyone else. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with these agendas, they simply may not be the best stewardship of our time. It’s important to choose how we spend our time wisely. What we spend our time, money, and energy on will condition  the outflow of our hearts. If we desire to have an outflow that reflects Christ,  our goals should include things that will draw us closer to Him.

It’s easy to compare ourselves to others and feel as if we aren’t performing well. With that being said, a gentle reminder that we can only do so much. It’s important to intentionally make goals for the new season and practically schedule events, that are manageable. It’s okay to say “no.” In order to give God our best in everything we do, we should reprioritize and realize our true intentions for what we are doing. Are we doing it for God? Or are we doing it for our own glory?

Instead of choosing to live by the worlds standard for fall, let’s focus on pleasing Christ. When the invitations come pouring in, choose wisely. Our time is incredibly valuable + we should use it for God’s glory.  As humans, we tend to make time for what is important to us. How do we know what’s important to us? Examine what you’re spending your time on. Is it a productive use of your time?

As the hymn writer wrote, “I will choose the holy joys that always last.” In conclusion, I encourage each of us to manage our time in  a Christ-like way. 🤍✨
