The Problem With Pride

What does the Bible say about pride?

In fact, several things, for example Proverbs 11:2 says “When  pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.” James 4:6 says, “But he giveth more  grace. Wherefore he saith, God resistant the proud, but give them grace to the humble.” As Christians we all have a call in life. We need to have humility and not just for a little bit, but all of the time. We need to be God's servant which may require doing things that we might not usually do. This may make us uncomfortable or even scared. We might face prejudice because of our faith.

Have you ever humbled yourself? Like if you have ever fallen and were like I’m so  embarrassed? This is sort of the concept that we should have when we think about our faith  and our Christianity. When we fall we rely more on Jesus to pick us up. When we are actually strongest (take a guess) probably when we are relying on God for our problems, rather than ourselves. I know it is easy to get caught up in what you can do or what you think. You can do it but when things get tough, that's when you start to rely on Jesus. There are a few things wrong with this approach and I’m guilty of it myself. Don’t get me wrong, I will go through a week and almost completely rely on my own strength. It may only be when I come to face  something difficult that I seek God for help.

First off, we need to let God carry our burdens all of the time and face the true fact that we are imperfect humans who cannot handle it. Don’t look down on yourself, the gifts and talents you have were given to you for a purpose, but everything you have is Gods and it could be taken away at any moment. I think that is something we need to realize, that we are not our  own person.

We are children of God. He has given us those gifts specifically not to waste, but to  submit to him for a better use than what we would have used them for. God has a lot of grace  ready for us. When we are humble and acknowledge our own imperfections God's grace not  only shines through, but also strengthens us. We also need to accept that though not every task may seem important ( I’m talking about the hard work, the work that not everyone realizes and  appreciates) it is important if it is what God wants for us and it will lead to the most  content life.

Let God have you every day at your best and at your worst, humble yourself and realize  you cannot do anything without God.  We are nothing without him. He will pick us up when we mess up, but we must allow him to.
